My workshop series “Better than Fiction: Writing your Memoir with Flair” starts Thursday Sept. 26 at the Welwood Murray Memorial Library in downtown Palm Springs at 10 a.m. The every-other-week, five-session series will focus on using fictional writing techniques to bring life to your memoir. I will be one of two featured readers at Koffi in Rancho Mirage, October 8, 2017, at 2 p.m..Â This series of book talks and readings by local authors is hosted by Donna Fitzgerald. I will be talking about my Johnson Station series and reading a bit from the forthcoming third book in the series, Marcia’s Revenge.
I will be presenting a discussion about the independent book publishers efforts to raise the publishing standards for independently and self-published books at the Indie Author Fair at the Corona Public Library as part of Indie Author’s Day. In addition, I will be talking via Skype about my new publishing venture, Sunacumen Press, and about independent publishing at the Bertha Bartlett Memorial Library in Story City, Iowa, the same day. I will begin my workshop series on how to self-publish your books on Monday, October 16, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Rancho Mirage Public Library. This session will cover creating your author website and using social media (everything but Facebook) to market your book. Lynne will talk about her successes with blogging, e-mail blasts and other social media tools. I will be at the Wheatmark Publishers booth (137) at the Tucson Festival of Books from 3 to 4 on Saturday, March 11, to sign copies of my Johnson Station novels and give readers a chance to win a unique (and tough) jigsaw puzzle, featuring downtown Johnson Station.The puzzles celebrate the release of the first two Johnson Station novels, Gracie’s Revolution and Jackie’s Campaign.
